Post Subject: The Rookie Read Article

I have spent the last couple of weeks corresponding with Bill Pelland via email and found him to be an incredibly informed individual...he believes what he believes, and does so with astounding passion..I respect that.

I just shot off another email to him, and I made a comment that I thought would be fair to share with all of you who read this.
Let me state for the record, I do not think Barack Obama should be the next President, but not for most of the reasons that have been stated in this forum.

The one hangup I have is the lack of experience...electing him President of the United States, in my opinion, would be like electing a high school football player into the NFL Hall of Fame...the player and Obama both have great potential, but they haven't proven anything yet. You don't let a pilot on his first solo flight into the cockpit of a passenger-loaded commercial jet, and you don't give a rookie senator the highest seat in the country...these are things you EARN, through experience and knowledge...and performance. That high school player might be the greatest thing on the field, in his venue, but he's yet to prove he belongs with the elite...Obama might be an awesome first-time Senator, he might look great in a nice suit, he might have all the best sound bites etched to memory, he might even have some awesome ideas of how to fix our economy and education woes...but until he PROVES he can actually do something tangible, he doesn't deserve the top chair. I'm not comfortable giving him "on the job training" in a position of leadership that can so profoundly affect my daily life.

Bill and I have cordially agreed to disagree on many of the issues. I can't say if he's wrong and I'm right or the other way around...all we can do is voice our opinions and argue our points...welcome to America!
