Bill,

You state that "The disparity between the middle class and the wealth has grown so you have the upper income making more money." Based on your response the only solution would be for everyone to earn the same amount of money and for everyone to pay the same amount in taxes, no matter what job they do. What kind of weird economy would that be? Sorry, but this is America, where hard work, ingenuity, intellect and perseverance are rewarded not only monetarily but also with the satisfaction of knowing that one is contributing to society by providing jobs for other americans and providing a product or service which many more need or, oh my gosh, want. (Glad I was not speaking that sentence. I would have needed a period in there somewhere.)

A key point in the previous paragraph is providing jobs for other Americans. It makes no sense to impose confiscatory taxes on the guy driving the Mercedes who it turns out owns a successful electrical supply business that he built from the ground up with the sweat of his own brow and now employs maybe fifty people. Who do you think is going to suffer the consequences of those higher taxes he has to pay? Yep, now he is down to only being able to employ thirty-five people.

Fifteen people just lost their jobs because the mentality is that the guy driving the Mercedes must have done something rotten and tread all over less fortunate people to get it. Sure, there are people out there who have done just that. But it is a minuscule number compared to the number of honest hard working and well intentioned small business owners and entreprenuers who provide a majority of the jobs in this country. This Ford pick-up driving guy is more than happy for them all to be making mountains of money, living in big houses, and driving expensive cars while providing millions of great jobs to the citizens of this country.

Now I am off to wash my pick-up truck.
