I, for one, am glad it is finally going into effect. If resturants had been responsible, and had completely segregated sections and air filtration systems, this ban would not have been necessary. Since they won't watch out their patrons, the city has taken this on for them. Dallas did this a while back and I can't tell you how nice it is to go to a restaurant or nightclub and be able to breathe...

I am with you. I only wish Van Zandt county would get with the program. I can't tell you how many restaurants in this area you are forced to walk through the smoking to get to the non smoking or stand in smoking to pay for your meal. I know it's not a popular opinion, but if your so addicted to nicotine you can't eat a meal without smoking, you really should just stay home. biggrin

Right on Jim! I agree! I have been in a restaurant in Tyler and the smoking area would be right beside the nonsmoking. No WALLS...how stupid is that.

Now if everyone will stop driving their cars, using outboard motors, and gasoline engines on their lawnmowers we would all be able to breath. Easy to give up something you don't utilize, but have to sacrifice something you do use , that is a different story.

The Smoking Ban is just some small minded people wanting to have their own way. If they were actually concerned why not put that same effort of crying for a smoking ban and the energy gloating over getting their way into campaigning for cleaner air and alternative fuels.

I've written on this before and The Tyler Paper wouldn't print it, so know you will never see this either. The powers that be don't want to discuss means to eliminate the fossil fuel monopoly.

Well. I commented on this once, but apparently none of my comments were posted from the last few days. I too, am happy that more and more cities are banning smoking. It is ridiculous how many still have you walk through the smoking section to get to the non smoking or you have to stand in the smoking section to pay. I agree that it is a smokers right to fry their lungs, it is my right not to be forced to breathe their second hand smoke.

You know , I used to smoke , I havent smoked in 6 years. Its too expensive !! However , I have been on both sides of the rope , I know what its like to be a smoker , and now that i am a non smoker and a parent of a small child i dont like going to a restraunt and sitting in smoke either. I agree with the smoke ban being in restraunts. But the clubs too is an extreme. People go to restraunts to eat ( most people anyways ). People go to clubs to smoke and drink and dance. I am all for banning smoking in public where small children inhale that mess , but the clubs is a little to far . I dont even go to clubs and I dont think that is fair. I love to dance but i dont go to clubs or bars because i dont drink or smoke . It is the choice of the adult going there to choose if they want to go and what they participate in.

Ban Smoking in Restraunts and Public Places where Our Children Are , Not in the Bars and Clubs that Smokers choose to go to where there are only Willing Adults Involved.
