Don't know how you got "bitter and hateful" out of my comments, but I gather it's because you agree with the original sentiments.

I'll repeat, as un-bitterly as possible, if I may coin a word, we all have our dislikes and political differences. We even have our private hates, unworthy as that may or may not be.

But impending death is a time to keep those sentiments muted, in my humble opinion. It's the equivalent of telling someone dying of lung cancer, "now aren't you sorry you smoked?"

Any death leaves behind loved ones and families, and in the case of a public figure, admirers who are hurting. I described it as piling on and as morbid, and I'll stick with that. I see several folks who also apparently have decided their partisan feelings should follow him to the grave. I heard that occasionally from the other side when controversial figures like Strom Thurmond died.

What I also pointed out is that, yes, it's a free country. But when someone says something outrageous and others are appalled, they may well let her know that.

It's as simple as that.
