No...you don't. When you offer your opinion, that is that. An Opinion. I don't know Heidi, and I do disagree with her from time to time. But the personal attacks on Heidi are not productive to the forum, and they have nothing to do with anyone here that is bashing her. The moderators of this forum need to pull all of the posts that personally hammer Heidi for her commentary. If you don't like her opinion, offer another opinion, but none of us here has the right to attack another.

Sorry, but your attempt at defense is far too timid. Differing opinions on some of the other topics expressed here are certainly more appropriate to the civilized give and take you describe.

But hate is hate. We all do it at times, but most have the good taste and/or common sense to keep it private. She chose to air hers, and that will draw a crowd.

And in this case, most of the crowd is appalled. The milk of human kindness is a bit curdled in her post, and it speaks to a certain view of life and people. If others find that view sad and bitter, that's their fault?

If the same views were expressed about a controversial Republican or clergyman or local civic leader, one can only imagine the posts that would draw. Criticism is legitimate and public figures know it goes with the territory. But as death approaches, this morbid piling-on was clearly inappropriate and duly commented upon.

Some phrase about beams and motes comes to mind...

Karen you appear to be a very bitter hateful and intolerant person. I find it curious that that's how you describe Heidi. Don't be such a hypocrit.
