Post Subject: Hit or Miss Read Article

I enjoyed Roy Maynards article about the New Yorkers attempt at political satire and have always enjoyed political satire. The New Yorker, while missing their mark, did the country a service. They brought the whole Muslim, terrorist, black racist underground rumor mills to the surface where people can discuss them.

Don't get me wrong. People following these posts know I a STONG Obama supporter. It is most discouraging that these rumors (Muslin, terrorist, black radical, etc etc) keep surfacing because they distract the American public from the real issues. Hopefully, the New Yorker's satire will help put them to rest once and for all.

This country has suffered these last eight years. Our dollar has declined in value, our moral standing and foreign policy leadership in the world has suffered, the neccessary war in Afghanistan has suffered because of the foolish war started in Iraq, and now our financial institutions are in peril because of faulty regulations that did not prevent the sub-prime mortgage crisis.

Blame who you will, congress (Republican and Democrat alike), the President, Dick Cheney, Paul Wolfowitz, Richard Perle, Rumsfeld, or who ever. At this point the finger of blame is less important than finding a solution. It is time for a change.

McCain along with his chief economic advisor, Phil Graham, do not seem to understand the gravity of the situation and are promising to continue the same economic policies that brought us here. We have a choice to make; to continue the policies that have not worked or to vote in new people to see what they can do.

It is time to set aside the politics as usual (is McCain too old, is Obama too black) and find the real things that will affect our future. Both McCain and Obama are honorable hard working Americans that care about this country. Now it is up to us to look at where they think the nation ought to go and vote accordingly.

My personal preference of course is Obama. We also need Noriega as US Senator. Your choices may be different and that is why we have elections.

Hopefully this election we will do it differently and vote on issues and show the country that politics as usual is not the best way to choose.
