Government that preserves our freedoms is good government. The freedom from criminals on the streets, freedom from invading armies, freedom from swindlers in business, and the list could go on and on, is a function of government. Any function of government that reaches past the job of protecting our freedoms is treading on dangerous territory. We should allow failure on many fronts, because it teaches people to do a better job next time. Instead, we want government to look for ways to wipe out our mistakes and not make us pay for them. We all pay for the mistakes of government that reward failure with a paycheck. Liberal politicians want to promise the moon, then send the bill to the taxpayers. We need to pay for freedom, not the moon.
