Very thought provoking experiment.

I see several holes in your analogy:

1.) Citizens can reclaim a substantial portion of their tax dollars by occasionally making use of the entitlement programs you listed. Utilization of public facilities and infrastructure funded by taxes is another way citizens benefit from the fruits of their labor. The portion of taxes spent on national defense is similarly returned to each citizen in the form of security.

2.) Another obvious hole is one you left open with your question regarding the value of liberties such as coming and going as we please, living where we want, and buying what we want. You ask whether this makes much of a difference. Yes! It is these liberties that are the essence of "freedom".

3.) Individuals band together and form tribes, communities, and civilizations because there is strength, safety, and stability in larger numbers. All such groups require individual contributions to be made for the good of the group as a whole. Here in the U.S., we have a say in how our contributions are used by virtue of our right to vote. Slaves have no such input on how the fruit of their labor is dispersed.
