As you know, Robert Rubin was the head of the NEC (created by Clinton) and later the Sec. of Treasury under Clinton. Clinton called him the "greatest Secretary of the Treasury since Alexander Hamilton." Rubin was asked in an interview if the deregulation bill(s) spearheaded by Phil Gramm had anything to do with the current situation and he said that it DID NOT! Maybe he was trying to cover for himself and Clinton but that was the opinion he went on record with at any rate.
