Post Subject: eager law enforcement... Read Article

I attended my son's graduation ceremony at U.T.Tyler on May 9th. I myself had never been to U.T. so I was not familiar with parking there. The graduation started at 3:00 P.M. At 2:40 the lot that I was in was completely full. There were people circling the same lot trying to find places to park. There was an area at the end of the lot where the yellow lines had been painted black ( 4 spaces) I parked in one, 3 other cars quickly filled the other slots. I went to the graduation ceremony. When I came out there were so many tickets on windshields you could barely count them all. Mine being one of them. My gripe was , that this was a special day. Lots of parents there that would not normally be there, nobody was directing us as to the fact that there was another parking lot on the north side of the school, but there was plenty of manpower to write $11.00 tickets. In the north lot someone had taken 2 spaces because they had a horse trailer in tow, with a horse inside, and the reason they took 2 slots was because they were trying to get the horse into the shade...They too had a parking ticket.
Come on people, where is your common courtesy? It was a special day, I promise I'm not a "regular" parking offender.
Well, I feel better now! :)

Post Subject: Common sense tells me........

Regardless of the fact you had never been to UT Tyler before, common sense will tell you not to park in the blacked out spaces. The fact that you were unaware of any additional parking lots on campus is a shakey argument at best. Did you actually think that lot was the only lot on campus? Come on! Where do you think they put all those students cars when they come to school? Again common sense would tell you there were other parking lots open for you to use. Don't complain that you got a ticket for parking in an obviously "special" parking space when you were on a large university campus with multiple parking lots available. Believe me they don't just say "Hey, we have got some left over black paint. I think I'll go paint four parking spaces just to use up this paint. " And if you were running late, that too is no excuse for illegal parking. The "eager" law enforcement were only doing their job.
