Dear Ms. Mary Voiles,

I am the daughter of a criminal defense attorney here in Tyler, Texas and I am 14 years old. I was very offended by what you said. I really don’t understand why you would even wish poorly for our family or any other family of a criminal defense attorney. I understand you do not understand what my father does. My father defends the Constitution of the United States of America, which states that any person who is accused of a crime has the right to an attorney. It also states that you are innocent until proven guilty. Secondly, if the prosecutors do not do their jobs properly they can be the ones letting the criminals run loose. If you read more instead of watching sitcoms which are FICTION you would know more about this subject. In conclusion, before you state that you would wish poorly on anyone you might need to brush up on the subject on which you are stating.

Thanks,
Temple Mims

Temple,
Very well said! While I don't like the idea of spending taxpayers money to defend someone who is clearly by video, guilty, in order to have the law properly followed, they must be defended.

I know that if not properly defended they could later come back to the courtroom and have the sentencing overturned and be out of jail.

That Ms Voiles suggest harm should come to the families of the defense attorney is outrageous!

One day her or some family member may need that criminal defense attornery and then will she still be wishing harm to her own family?

And in some cases the "defense attorney" is court appointed so they don't always get a say in the case they are given. No matter the case they have sworn to uphold the law.

She does not take into account the difficulties the families of the defense attorney's go thru on a regular basis, because of who is being defended.
That is enough harm without being physical. I am sure that you Ms Temple have on more than one occasion defended what your father does to your friends. I commend you for speaking out and supporting your father.

Temple,

I would suggest you do a search of the Tyler Paper archives on Mary Voiles and read her numerous other rants and comments. I think you will find it interesting. With this information you can then research the differences between our legal system and that of Lithuania. Your research of her previous postings will answer your question of "Why Lithuania?". If she has access to this forum then I will be interested in her response. If she does not, you may have to submit your findings to the print version of the paper so she will see it. You are very sharp, have fun!

I cannot believe that someone would actually wish harm on a defense attorney's family because the attorney is doing his job. I actually cannot believe that you would wish harm on someone's family at all. That is a terrible thing to say. Every person derserves a fair trial. Yes, it is annoying that we have to pay for these peoples' defense, but that is what our constitution states and that is how the United States judicial system works. On the opposite note, what if the defendant is INNOCENT but everyone THINKS he is guilty. Everyone deserves to go through the court proceedings and get a proper trial. That is a right for being an American.
