Post Subject: (No heading) Read Article

I think the uproar over this Pope was because he visited America at a time when the entire world is screaming "Death To America!". It was a good feeling to see a religious leader such as this man not hating on Americans and wearing a disgusting turban.

I don't understand the Catholic faith either, but he certainly was kind and peaceful and Americans really need that right now.

It was just nice to see that's all.

Post Subject: Answer to "Why the uproar"

In response to Mr. Hall's letter asking "why the uproar over the Pope's visit to America?"

I sensed an underlying resentment towards the Catholic church from reading the letter asking why there is such an "uproar" over the Pope's visit to the US. For whatever reason you dislike or disrespect the Catholic church, you may wish to know some history on the subject so as not to wonder why it is such a "big deal" to so many.

From the way I understand the subject, The Pope's "office", if you will, is handed down from one Pope to another from as far back as the beginnings of the Christian religion. T hat could be one reason. (May I suggest reading up on this time in history from a fact based, non-biased book about this time period). Another reason may be that although in this part of the south, Catholics are a minority, in the rest of our country and the world, the majority of Christians are Catholic. It is a "big deal' to many people even if not in your frame of reference.

I tend to respect anyone's choice of faith practice whether it be Baptist, Methodist, Episcopalian, etc. I think that may be how the "big guy" would want us to behave. What do you think?
