What an amazing transformation Mr. Berman! When the Texas Legislature was in the process of re-vamping their school finance reform bills in the 2006 session, Berman wrote me a letter that point blank stated that school teachers are not state employees and that he was having a hard time supporting a bill that would have given teachers a significant raise due to this fact. But now, as government employees, our payroll deductions for our dues are a burden to the state? This sounds like a local issue to me? If the voters of a school district have a problem with this, then they should let their local board members know. I wonder if Berman thinks that we all are too stupid to decide things like this for ourselves? He also appears to believe that teachers are too dumb to send in a check if this courtesy were to be taken away.

You gotta love politicians who get spanked, and try to change the rules in the middle of the game! Since the Republicans don't get as much money from the education lobby—Berman sees this as a burden? Hogwash!!!

When Berman reneged on his promise about term limits years ago, East Texas voters should have been smart enough to vote him out instantly. Leo Berman is the one who is a burden to the State!
