In "Smith County Taxable Property Values Up 6.7 Percent" I read the following in the third paragraph:
The average home price in the county rose from $126,719 to $131,899, an increase of 4 percent.
.... and when I read the 15th paragraph, I read the following:
The average appraised home value in the city of Tyler went from $141,921 to $148,172, an increase of 4.4 percent.

Um... Was I absent on that day's lecture in math class??

The 6+% increase is overall taxable value. The 4 and 4.4% increases are just the "average" price of a home. This statistic tells me that they increased values more somewhere else, and/or there was new construction.

I see said the blind man... I've seen the error of my ways... got apples vs oranges goin on... smith co. vs. tyler info...

Originally I thought I had seen that the apprasals were for MORE than the actual values on the average home values.

mia culpa
