The fact that you believe bringing JT and REL together would create a "dumbing down" event was the reason for my ire. When people read statements like that without qualifying the dumbing down effect, they tend to believe it is because of one school. I agree with you that there are problems in both schools as a parent whose children graduated from Lee and I myself graduated from JT. I find it very difficult to swallow a statement that generalizes a school.

Okay. I understand what you are saying and how it was interprated. I should have qualified my statement.
It was by no means a statement directed at just John Tyler but more towards the national crisis in our schools.

2007 TAKS scores: Reading: REL 94, JT 85. Math: REL 85, JT 78. Social Studies: REL 96, JT 90. Science: REL 82, JT 69. Graduation rate: REL 92.2 %, JT 75.45 %.
