Joel Rosenberg to speak at Green Acres on Sunday
Months before Sept. 11, 2001, author Joel Rosenberg wrote a manuscript about Islamic extremists hijacking a plane, and the United States invading Iraq.
"It was an odd day," Rosenberg said in a telephone interview. "But I'm not sure my emotions were different than anyone else's in the country."
Rosenberg will speak at Green Acres Baptist Church on Sunday. His talks on "How to get to Heaven," will be at 9:45 a.m. and 11:15 a.m. His "Prophecy and World Events" lecture begins at 6 p.m.
Joel Rosenberg is the New York Times bestselling author of seven novels -- "The Last Jihad," "The Last Days," "The Ezekiel Option," "The Copper Scroll," "Dead Heat," "The Twelfth Imam," and "The Tehran Initiative" -- and five nonfiction books, "Epicenter," "Inside the Revolution," "Implosion," "Israel at War," and "The Invested Life," with nearly 3 million copies sold, according to a news release.
"The Ezekiel Option" received the Gold Medallion award as the "Best Novel of 2006" from the Evangelical Christian Publishers Association.
His newest book, "Damascus Countdown" is No. 7 on the New York Times bestseller list and addresses a Biblical prophecy about the destruction of Damascus, a prophecy that would make sense considering the current bloodshed still going on in Syria under President Bashar al-Assad, Rosenberg said.
While Rosenberg is known for his books that mix Biblical prophecy and world events, he's also an evangelical Christian. He'll draw from that to give his talk on Heaven during the morning services at Green Acres.
"I'm still praying about how to talk about it," he said. "A lot of Christians believe we're living in the end of days, and even people who don't believe that know something is coming. There's a sense of security in Christ."
As a communications advisor, Joel has worked with a number of U.S. and Israeli leaders, including Steve Forbes, Rush Limbaugh, Natan Sharansky and Benjamin Netanyahu.
He has addressed audiences all across the world, including those in Israel, Iraq, Jordan, Egypt, Turkey, Russia and the Philippines. He also has spoken at the White House, the Pentagon and to members of Congress.
The son of a Jewish father and a Gentile mother, Joel is an evangelical Christian with a passion to make disciples of all nations and teach Bible prophecy.
A graduate of Syracuse University with a BFA in filmmaking, he is married, has four sons, and lives near Washington, D.C.
