Student earns top forensics distinction
Staff Reports

Makenzie Lohman, of All Saints Episcopal School, earned the degree of Premier Distinction from the National Forensic League.

This is the highest degree of student membership and fewer than 500 high school students achieve this status each year, according to information provided by the school.

Those students who achieve this honor are among the top half of one percent of league members, the information reads.

To achieve the premier distinction degree, 1,500 points are needed; Miss Lohman had 1,700, according to a National Forensic League representative.

Students earn points through speaking engagements on campus or in the community, and through tournament wins and losses in a variety of speech and debate categories, the league representative said.

Students who achieve this status have demonstrated sustained excellence in classroom activities, competition rounds and service projects, according to the information provided by the school.
