Jacksonville chamber offering scholarships
The Jacksonville Chamber of Commerce’s Adopt-A-School Committee is offering a minimum of two $1,000 scholarships for the children of chamber members.

Students must be high school seniors whose parents are chamber members or work for businesses that are chamber members, according to a news release.

The application deadline is April 12. Call the chamber at 903-586-2217 or email coor­dinator@jacksonvilletexas.com with questions.


A&M Mothers award applications available
The Tyler A&M Mothers’ Club 2013 college scholarship applications will be available at the group’s upcoming meeting.

The meeting is scheduled for 6:30 p.m. Thursday at Pollard United Methodist Chur­ch, 3030 Copeland Road.

Scholarships are for students attending Texas A&M University in College Station.

Press association to award 2 scholarships
The North and East Texas Press Association in partnership with the Texas Press Association will award two $1,500 scholarships this spring.

One will be given to a graduating high school senior and the other to a college student. At the judges’ discretion, two scholarships can be awarded in one category and none in the other based on the quality of applications, according to information about the program.

Applications must be postmarked by March 25 and winners will be notified by April 12, according to the news release.

Applicants must be from the area served by the North and East Texas Press Association and must have declared a journalism, communications or photojournalism major. Print majors will receive preference, according to the provided information.
