Man arrested for assault of child; woman arrested for hindering apprehension

A Tyler woman was arrested Wednesday for hindering apprehension of a man wanted on multiple counts of aggravated assault of a child.

Smith County Sheriff's Office detectives, patrol deputies and an investigator from the Smith County District Attorney's Office went to a home on Texas Highway 155 south to arrest 42-year-old Dewayne Hash, of Tyler, according to a news release from the sheriff's office.

Hash had warrants issued by the 114th District Court for two counts of aggravated sexual assault of a child and one count of indecency with a child, sexual contact.

According to deputies, when they knocked on the door, 33-year-old woman said Hash was not at the home. She was charged with hindering apprehension, and both were taken to the Smith County jail, according to the release.

Hash's bonds totaled $900,000. The woman's bonds had not been set as of press time.
