Keep Tyler Beautiful receives an award

Keep Tyler Beautiful received the Keep America Beautiful President’s Circle Award during Keep America Beautiful’s 60th Anniversary National Conference, according to a news release from the city.
The national conference recently took place in Washington, D.C. The President’s Circle Award recognizes exemplary performance by certified affiliates of the national nonprofit in building and sustaining vibrant communities, according to the release.
In qualifying for a President’s Circle Award, Keep Tyler Beautiful has met the standards for excellence by conducting activities in three core focus areas of litter prevention: recycling and waste reduction, beautification and community greening, according to the release.
“One of Keep America Beautiful’s most effective tools is the work of our grassroots network of affiliate organizations, which has an impact on millions of Americans each year,” President and Chief Executive Officer Matt McKenna said.
“Our affiliates are providing real solutions to local problems caused by litter, graffiti, illegal dumping and other community blight by engaging volunteers of all ages in its effort to create a vibrant community,” he said in the news release.

Keep Tyler Beautiful Board Chairwoman Phyllis Carlyle, said in the release that she is very proud of this recognition and the work done by Keep Tyler Beautiful.

Keep Tyler Beautiful is a City of Tyler Advisory Board consisting of 11 volunteer members. The board’s purpose is to assist the city council in implementing a citywide program for the reduction of litter, the beautification of our public spaces and the community as a whole, according to the release.
