Texas PTA recognizes area students’ art
Staff Reports

The Texas Parent Teacher Association recognized the artistic efforts of four Tyler ISD students.

Fritz Hager, of Hubbard Middle School, Allie Andrews and Hunter Clemmons, of Rice Elementary School, and Lauren Lyons, of Robert E. Lee High School, participated in the Texas PTA’s annual Reflections program, according to a TISD news release.

Fritz, a seventh-grader, received the Outstanding Interpretation award for his musical composition, “Magic of the Moment.”

It was one of 30 selected from the Overall Award of Excellence winners to receive this additional award, according to the news release.

More than 1,000 pieces were submitted to the Texas PTA Reflections program.

As part of the award, Fritz will be invited to attend the Texas PTA Summer Leadership Seminar.

There, he will have the opportunity to perform in front of PTA leaders from around the state, according to the news release.

Because he also was an Overall Award of Excellence recipient, Fritz will advance to the National PTA Reflections competition.

In addition, Allie received the Award of Merit in the Primary Visual Arts category for her painting, “Swimming with the Fish.”

Hunter earned an Award of Excellence in the Intermediate Photography category for his photograph, “Change.”

Lauren received Honorable Mention in the Senior Visual Arts category for her drawing, “Harmony.”

All these TISD students will be invited to attend the statewide PTA Reflections awards ceremony this summer.

The Reflections program is open to students preschool through high school seniors. Artwork is considered in six categories: dance choreography, film production, literature, musical composition, photography and visual arts.
