UPDATE: Smith County Sheriff has suspect in Lake Placid Rd. shooting

SMITH COUNTY SHERIFF'S OFFICE PRESS RELEASE, 4:45 P.M.
Officials with the Smith County Sheriff's Office are looking for Rodrick Cridell Reece, DOB 10.11.83, 5'8", 220 lb, in conjunction with a shooting on March 7 on CR 1113 near Highway 155.

A warrant for aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, and a warrant for unlawful possession of firearm by felon (3rd degree felony) have been issued for Reece, who also has multiple outstanding drug, alcohol and traffic violations.

Reece is accused of shooting an individual during an altercation at the aforementioned location. An individual who was wounded, whose name is being withheld, is still being treated at a Tyler hospital.

Anyone who knows the location of or has any information regarding Rodrick Cridell Reece is asked to call the Smith County Sheriff's Office at 903-566-6600 or call any other law enforcement agency.

A man was shot on Lake Placid Road Thursday afternoon and a warrant has been issued for the suspected shooter.

At 3:23 p.m., the Smith County Sheriff's Office responded to a 911 call on County Road 1113, also known as Lake Placid Road, near Texas Highway 155, according to a news release from the department.

Deputies found a man with a gunshot wound and he was taken by ambulance to a Tyler hospital for treatment.

The suspected shooter was not at the scene, but a warrant was issued for his arrest, the release states. A Department of Public Safety Helicopter circled the area Thursday afternoon.

As of press time, the shooter and victim's identities were not released pending an investigation.
