Tom E. Robinson Jr.
A memorial service for Tom E. Robinson Jr., 90, of Tyler will be on Saturday, March 9, 2013, at 11 a.m. at Stewart Family Funeral Home Chapel with Minister Dwight Sowle officiating. The family will receive friends from 10 to 11 a.m., one hour prior to service.
Mr. Robinson passed away March 4, 2013, in Tyler. He was born Oct. 10, 1922, in Fort Worth to Thomas Edward Sr., and Ruth Varine Graves Robinson.
Tom graduated Texas Christian University with a degree in geosciences. Serving his country as a World War II Army Air Corps officer and Air Corps pilot, Tom was an airlift pilot during the Indi-Burma-China Theater and was on special assignment during the European Theater. He was a member of the Hump Pilots Association.
Tom came to Tyler in 1967. He founded and managed Robinson Operating Co. Inc., a Texas oil and gas operator, until October 2012. A member of the Tyler Chapter Masonic Lodge for greater than 50 years, Tom participated in the Flying Fez supporting the Shriner’s Children’s Hospitals. He was also a charter member of TYR Hangar, a member of the Centurion Club and a member of Christ Episcopal Church.
Tom was preceded in death by his parents; stepdaughter, Shannon L. Herrin; and stepmother, Nola Stolz.

He is survived by his loving family including his stepfather, Clark D. Wotherspoon, of Granbury; wife, Kathleen F. Robinson, of Tyler; son, Tom Robinson III and his wife Liz, of Austin; daughter, Lisa Dawn Robinson, of Fort Lauderdale, Fla.; stepdaughter, Cherie K. King and her husband Steve, of Flint; grandchildren, Thomas Edward Robinson IV and Merrill Ann Robinson, of Austin, and Matt S. Goughnour and Katy S. Goughnour, of Houston. Tom is also survived by close family friends, Leroy Sellers, of Tyler, Tom Rudd and Cathy Ellis, of Whitehouse, and John Friedli.
Honorary pallbearers will be Tom Rudd, Leroy Sellers, Robert G, Steve King, Matthew Goughnour and Thomas Robinson IV.
