Tyler Police arrest suspected burglar at Army Navy Store
Tyler Police arrested a man for burglarizing the Army Navy Store in the 1200 block of the SSE Loop on Wednesday night.

Two Tyler Police motorcycle traffic officers were riding by the Army Navy Store when they heard an audible alarm coming from the business, according to a press release.

The officers stopped to investigate and noticed a large hole had been cut into the back of the building.

While waiting for back-up, the officers witnessed a white male wearing black clothing exiting the woods to the north of the business and proceeding across Loop 323, the press release states.

Officers detained the suspect, identified as Richard Moore, 20, and police said he confessed to breaking into the business.

Moore was found to be in possession of a pair of gloves and a flashlight stolen from the business as well as a small axe used to cut through the wall.

Moore was taken to ETMC to treat an unrelated cut on his leg.

Moore was then taken to Smith County Jail where he was booked for burglary of a building.
