Trinity Mother Frances cuts 80 jobs from its workforce

Trinity Mother Frances Hospitals and Clinics officials announced Tuesday that it has cut 80 jobs across the organization as part of a reduction in its workforce.
Darin Szilagyi, senior vice president and chief marketing officer, said the cuts were made in various departments, from management on down.
"It is not lost on anyone inside Trinity Mother Frances that we are impacting the lives of our staff," Szilagyi said in a news release.
Trinity Mother Frances represents the Tyler area's largest employer, with 4,000 workers, according to the Tyler Economic Development Council website. The 80 jobs represent 2 percent of its workforce.
East Texas Medical Center is the second-largest employer, with 3,230 workers, while Tyler Independent School District is third with about 2,450.
Szilagyi said the reduction began Tuesday morning. Administrative officials also released a statement on Tuesday:
"Trinity Mother Frances has a distinguished 75-year history," said Lindsey Bradley, president and chief executive officer. "As we plan for our future service to the greater East Texas community, we will continue to place our emphasis on ensuring the highest standard of patient safety and providing the best and most compassionate patient care. As the health care sector changes, so must we change to address the needs of today and tomorrow."
Mother Frances officials contend that previous construction projects and upgrades have had no effect on the reduction.
