UPDATE: Elderly driver loses control of car, crashes into Citizen's 1st Bank



UPDATE: WEDNESDAY, MARCH 6, 10:52 A.M.
While exiting the Braum's Ice Cream & Dairy Store parking lot at 3635 Troup Highway, an 87 year-old male driver hits a dip in the road which caused the car to accelerate, according to police reports.

The driver lost control of the car and crashed into a Citizens 1st Bank drive-thru pillar located at 2001 SSE Loop 323.

The police believe the car was traveling at between 50 to 60 mph.

The drive was taken to a nearby hospital and police said the driver was conscious alert.

Tyler fire and police are responding to the Citizens 1st Bank at the intersection of Troup Highway and Loop 323 where a vehicle has reportedly crashed into the building.

Reports indicate the driver or a passenger might be trapped in the vehicle.

The Citizens 1st Bank drive-thru pillar located at 2001 SSE Loop 323 sustained damage Wednesday morning after an 87 year-old male driver lost control of his vehicle and crashed into the pillar. Police believe the car was traveling at between 50 to 60 mph. Police said the driver was conscious and alert.
