Anna Belle Sisk Porter
Services for Anna Belle Sisk Porter, 94, of Tyler will be on Wednesday, Feb. 27, 2013, at 2 p.m. at Stewart Family Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Dennis Cable officiating. A private burial will be in Cathedral in the Pines Cemetery under direction of Stewart Family Funeral Home. Mrs. Porter passed away Feb. 25, 2013, under the care of The Hospice of East Texas. She was born Oct. 23, 1918, in Quinlan, the daughter of Texanna Lankford and John Curtis Sisk.

Anna attended school in Quinlan. She loved sports and played basketball in school. Upon graduation, she was awarded a basketball scholarship and became a semi-pro basketball player in the Oklahoma City area at that time. In later years, she worked for Postal Telegraph, Western Union and American Airlines as an instructor, traveling nationwide to provide training. Anna also became manager of an advertising firm for several years in the Dallas-Fort Worth Metroplex. She married John D. Porter in 1955 and she and her husband were involved in many civic activities, both social and business. Anna gave all her efforts to helping family and friends. She was very generous for the charitable needs of others, a beautiful person inside and out. She loved to entertain and cook, and baked wonderful cakes for family and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents; two sisters; and three brothers. She was very special to all her nieces and nephews. Lovingly known to them as Aunt Belle, she will continue to be a blessing to all who knew her and she will be missed beyond measure. Anna is survived by her husband of 57 years, John D. Porter; one sister-in-law; and nieces and nephews.

In lieu of customary remembrances, donations may be made to The Hospice of East Texas Foundation, 4111 University Blvd., Tyler, 75701.
