TJC looks to broadcast student engagement efforts on new show

A new locally produced television show will highlight Tyler Junior College’s efforts to improve student success.
A new locally produced television show will highlight Tyler Junior College’s efforts to improve student success.
The second edition of “Dream Big: the Achieving the Dream Initiative at TJC,” is airing on Suddenlink Cable Channel 20, according to a college news release.
TJC spokesman Fred Peters said the purpose of the program is to let the community know about how the college is improving student success and engagement.
This includes changes to its remedial math program, and the creation of Freshman Interest Groups, or FIGs.
TJC graduate and former Tyler news anchor Bryan Houston serves as the show’s host.
TJC produced the new episode with the assistance of the Tyler Independent School District and TISD TV, according to the news release.
The 30-minute show is scheduled to air on Channel 20, an educational access channel for Tyler and Whitehouse Suddenlink subscribers, at the following times: Mondays at 9 a.m. and 1 p.m.; Tuesdays at 10 a.m., 1 p.m. and 4 p.m.; Wednesdays at 9 a.m., 1 p.m. and 4 p.m.; and Thursdays at 9 a.m. and 1 p.m.
