Seniors to be honored for participating in the Junior Symphony League
Seventy-one high school seniors will be presented March 1 at the Women’s Symphony League Benefit Ball, “The Grand Ball”

Each will be honored for participation in the Junior Symphony League program, which involves volunteering for the East Texas Symphony Orchestra, the Women’s Symphony League and the Tyler Youth Orchestra.

Connie Greenberg and Donna Johnson, past and present Women’s Symphony Leagues vice president in charge of Junior Symphony League, along with the program’s senior coordinators, Joyce Crawford and Janet Dougherty, guided the volunteers.

“The Women’s Symphony League is privileged to honor the Junior Symphony League members with their presentation at the 2013 Grand Ball on March 1,” Jennifer Hathaway-Dixon and Kristi C. Roberts, this year’s WSL Ball Chairmen said in a jointly released statement. “Members of the JSL have served as young ambassadors for the East Texas Symphony for the past two years and the Grand Ball is a tribute to their commitment to our community.”

“The high school students who participate in the Junior Symphony League program have a unique opportunity to give back to our community through service to the East Texas Symphony Orchestra and other WSL programs, which benefit aspiring musicians,” said Amy Cole, WSL president. “In turn, the JSL program teaches them skills in volunteerism, time management, public relations, etiquette, manners and personal presentation.”

Mrs. Cole noted the students grow and mature during their two years of service, saying, “Their transformation from teenagers to young men and women ready to present themselves to colleges is the result of their commitment to the program and the source of parents’ pride as they are presented at the Symphony Ball. We invite the community to join us for the Grand Ball on March 1st in our efforts to support the East Texas Symphony Orchestra and honor these seniors.”
