Homecoming concert set March 2
The sixth annual Miles Pike Homecoming Concert will feature members of church choirs all over East Texas and be at 6 p.m. March 2 at Colonial Hills Baptist Church, 7330 S Broadway Ave. in Tyler. The concert also will feature Gaither Homecoming artist Larry Ford. Admission is free, but donations will be accepted.

Greg Grubb, director of People Attempting to Help (PATH) in Tyler and retired president and co-owner of Texlan Oil Co., will be the guest speaker.
“Greg will be discussing his experiences in leadership, especially the similarities and differences between leading in business and non-profit organizations,” Dr. Emily Prevost, ETBU director of leadership development, said.
PATH has served Smith County residents for 25 years through its “Five Steps on the PATH Out of Poverty” program.
“Church members and leadership, leaders of service organizations and entrepreneurs will all find common points of interest with Greg and will be encouraged in their leadership within the community as they listen to his story,” Dr. Prevost said.

“Dr. Mast has served this community and church, for over three decades,” according to the church's written release. “He is a dynamic leader and speaker, with a great wisdom and desire to help people.”
The Rev. Efrem Collins of Hopewell Valley Baptist Church in Swan will be the guest speaker. The Hopewell Valley Baptist Church Choir will perform. Refreshments will be served after the program.
As part of the celebration events, the First Lady's Night, honoring Sister Sandra Mast will be at 7 p.m. Thursday.

Ladies in attendance at this event are asked to wear red, but it is not required.

VETERAN TO SPEAK
Vietnam veteran Dave Roever will speak at 8 a.m., 10:30 a.m. and 6 p.m. services on March 3 at Living for the Brand Cowboy Church, 902 N. Loop 7 in Athens.
“In July 1969, while serving as a Brown Water Black Beret with the U. S. Navy in Vietnam, Dave Roever was severely burned when a white phosphorus grenade exploded in his hand. He was thought to be dead. But due to his faith in God and the faithful love of his wife Brenda, Roever survived, undergoing numerous surgeries at the Brooke Army Medical Center in San Antonio, Texas,” according to the written release.

Tribute Quartet, previous winners of the Horizon Group Award at the Singing News Fan Awards, will appear in concert at First Baptist Church of Winona. The event will be at 7 p.m. March 2. Also appearing will be The Watson Family of Winona. The public is invited.
