Texas Fishing Report, Feb. 21
NORTHEAST
ATHENS: Water clear, 53-57 degrees; 2.63' low. Black bass are good on shallow crankbaits and spinnerbaits fished around any cover. Crappie are fair on jigs. Catfish are fair on cut shad.
BOB SANDLIN: Water clear; 53-58 degrees; 4.81' low. Black bass are fair on bladed jigs and squarebill crankbaits. Crappie are good on jigs. White bass are fair on slabs. Catfish are slow on trotlines.
CADDO: Water stained; 53-57 degrees; 0.09' high. Black bass are good on black/blue flipping jigs. White and yellow bass are fair on slabs. Catfish are fair on trotlines and cut bait. CEDAR CREEK: Water clear; 52-56 degrees; 2.91' low. Black bass are good on white spinnerbaits around docks. White bass are good on slabs. Hybrid striper are good on live shad. Crappie are fair on minnows. Catfish are good on prepared bait.
COOPER: Water clear; 53-57 degrees; 7.19' low. Black bass are good on lipless crankbaits and spinnerbaits. Crappie are fair on minnows. White bass are fair on slabs. Hybrid striper are good on live shad. Catfish are fair on cut bait.
FAIRFIELD: Fishing has been slow since the fish kill in September of 2010. TPWD has discontinued stocking the lake after another kill in early September 2011. Redfish and black bass survived the kill in limited numbers.
FORK: Water clear; 54-58 degrees; 4.15' low. Black bass are good on squarebill crankbaits around main lake points. Yellow bass are fair on jigs. Crappie are good on minnows around the bridges. Catfish are fair on prepared bait.

SAM RAYBURN: Water lightly stained; 59-63 degrees; 2.43' low. Black bass are fair on pumpkinseed and watermelon soft plastics and spinnerbaits. White bass are fair on live minnows and watermelon spinnerbaits. Crappie are fair on minnows and blue tube jigs. Bream are fair on worms. Catfish are fair on frozen shrimp, live minnows, and stinkbait.
TOLEDO BEND: Water lightly stained; 58-62 degrees; 2.61' low. Black bass are good on watermelon soft plastics, spinnerbaits, and Rat-L-Traps. Striped bass are fair on chartreuse striper jigs. White bass are fair on minnows and pet
spoons. Crappie are good on minnows. Bream are fair on worms. Channel and blue catfish are fair on shrimp and nightcrawlers. Yellow catfish are slow.

SOUTH SABINE: Redfish are fair on the edge of the channel on mullet. Sheepshead and black drum are good at the jetty on live shrimp.
BOLIVAR: Trout are fair on the south shoreline on slow-sinking plugs. Black drum and redfish are fair to good at Rollover Pass.
TRINITY BAY: Trout are fair for drifters working deep shell on the upper end of the bay on Bass Assassins, Trout Killers and Sand Eels. Redfish are good at the spillway on crabs and mullet.
EAST GALVESTON BAY: Trout are fair to good on the south shoreline on Corkies and MirrOlures. Whiting and sand trout are good on the edge of the Intracoastal on fresh shrimp.
WEST GALVESTON BAY: Sheepshead, redfish and black drum are good at the jetty on shrimp and crabs. Trout are fair over deep shell in the afternoon on plastics. Oversized black drum are fair to good at the jetty and in channel.
TEXAS CITY: Sheepshead are fair around rock groins on live shrimp. Mangrove snapper and whiting are fair from the piers.
FREEPORT: Sand trout and sheepshead are fair on live shrimp on the reefs. Redfish are fair to good at San Luis pass on cracked blue crabs.
EAST MATAGORDA BAY: Trout are fair for drifters on live shrimp and soft plastics over humps and scattered shell. Redfish are fair to good on the edge of the Intracoastal on crabs and mullet.
WEST MATAGORDA BAY: Redfish are fair to good on the south shoreline in the guts and bayous. Trout are fair on shell and grassy shorelines on soft plastics and live shrimp
PORT O'CONNOR: Trout and redfish are fair on Corkies over soft mud in waist-deep water in San Antonio Bay. Redfish are fair to good at the mouths of drains on soft plastics and live shrimp.
ROCKPORT: Trout are fair on the edge of the ICW on glow DOA Shrimp. Redfish are fair to good on the Estes Flats and in California Hole on mullet and shrimp.
PORT ARANSAS: Redfish are fair to good around Pelican Island on Gulps and mullet. Sand trout are good on shrimp in the channel.
CORPUS CHRISTI: Redfish are good in the Humble Channel on crabs and table shrimp. Trout are fair to good in Oso Bay on Gulps, topwaters and soft plastics.
BAFFIN BAY: Trout are fair to good in mud and grass on Corkies and Catch 2000s. Trout are fair to good in the guts along the King Ranch shoreline on Corkies, Bass Assassins and Gamblers.
