New Creation ministry adding women's center

Women with chronic life-controlling issues will have another place to get a fresh start.
The New Creation Restoration Center/Bethel House — a women's center that is part of the nonprofit New Creation Foundation ministry — is set to be constructed at 405 S. Joy St. in Troup.
A groundbreaking ceremony is scheduled for later this month.
Ministry Founder Pastor Greg Fleck said women at the center will be able to go through a 12-month faith-based program to address various issues, including drug and alcohol addiction, relationships, anxiety and depression.
“These are people who've reached a critical point and can't sustain their life …” he said. “Basically what we're doing is we're re-establishing the family and the family dynamics. … We have to retrain them and teach them how to have discipline in their life and refocus.”
The women's center will be unique in that it can bring in some women who have children, Fleck said. It will house about 30 people.
As part of the residential, inpatient-style program, Fleck said women will be challenged to change their lives through Christ-centered activities and participate in a supervised work-study program. He said they might work retail in a thrift store or help with craft sales and other ministry fundraisers.

Money raised through work projects and the thrift store goes back to New Creation to help support the program participants, Fleck said.
“It will benefit the community because it will be a resource for life-controlling issues …” he said. “You can confront your problems in a structured environment and build covenant relationships.”
He said people outside the community may participate in the program as well.
As far as a timeline, he said they would like for it to be a six-month project, but that will depend on financial support.
The ministry has received a $150,000 matching gift, and the entire project cost is estimated at $475,000 to $500,000.
Once built, it will be the newest restoration center for the ministry. New Creation Foundation already has a men's center, which can house 40 men, and a donated house for a group of women.
Associate Pastor Jimmie Hayes, chief operations officer for the foundation, has said he believes the discipleship program is needed in the community.
He has said there are a number of drug and alcohol programs, but the foundation deals specifically with the spiritual life of the person as well as issues such as gambling and pornography.
“We take broken people. We take broken lives and help through the power of God and his Word to put lives back together,” Hayes said last year.
He added, “Our doors are open. Our arms are open. We're committed to this. We're glad to be in the community in Troup, Texas and look forward to continued growth and helping the city.”
