Home show kicks off Friday
Staff Reports

The Tyler Area Builders Association is hosting its 33rd Annual Home Products Show Friday through Feb. 24.

Homeowners will be able to learn a variety of home improvement ideas and tips.

“The economy is improving, which means many homeowners are finally ready to do those upgrades or updates they may have postponed for the last few years,” Libby Simmons, executive vice-president of the Tyler Area Builders Association, said in a prepared statement. “The convention center will be filled with Tyler Area Builders Association members who will be showcasing the latest and greatest to help homeowners make those decisions.”

The event will be held at Harvey Convention Center from 6 to 9 p.m. Friday; 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday; and 1 to 5 p.m. on Sunday, Feb. 24. Tickets are $5 for adults and children 12 and younger are free.

Seminars given by local businesses will include the topics of outdoor living spaces, mastering mosquitoes, remodeling done right, how to fund your projects, and lighting and window treatments on Saturday. Sunday seminars will be about siding, painting techniques and financing and closing on your new home.

Food donations will be collected for the East Texas Food Bank. Those who bring a donation are eligible to enter the drawing for a $100 VISA gift card. Attendees also will be entered into a grand prize drawing for a $500 shopping spree to Gray’s Home Fashion Gallery and for a Samsung 51-inch Smart/3D Plasma 1080p flat panel from Mundt Audio Visual of Longview.

About 2,500 visitors attended the Home Products Show last year, representatives said. For more information, contact the TABA office at 903-561-3964 or visit www.tylerareabuilders .com.
