A Ben Wheeler man is facing an intoxicated manslaughter charge after an early-morning car accident on Sunday.

A Ben Wheeler man is facing an intoxicated manslaughter charge after an early-morning car accident on Sunday.
The accident happened about 1:10 a.m. on Texas 31 near County Road 1248, according to a news release from the Tyler Police Department.
A 2007 Dodge Charger driven by 22-year-old Ramon Duran-Ledesma, of Ben Wheeler, rear ended a 2004 Chevrolet Colorado driven by 56-year-old William Craig Little, of Tyler, the release states.
Little was pronounced dead at the scene, but Duran-Ledesma was uninjured, the release states.
Sgt. Matt Leigeber said Duran-Ledesma was given field sobriety tests at the scene and was taken to East Texas Medical Center -- Tyler for a mandatory blood draw. He was later booked into the Smith County jail on a intoxicated manslaughter with a vehicle charge, a second degree felony.
Leigeber said blood draws are a common practice when an accident is believed to be caused by an intoxicated person.
A detective and accident investigator responded to the scene and the case remains under investigation, Leigeber said.
As of press time, Duran-Ledesma's bond had not been set.
