Texas Fishing Report
NORTHEAST
ATHENS: Water clear, 49-53 degrees; 3.39’ low. Black bass are slow on football jigs and Carolina rigs along deeper points. Crappie are good on minnows. Catfish are slow on prepared bait and cut shad.
BOB SANDLIN: Water clear; 48-53 degrees; 5.75’ low. Black bass are fair on lipless crankbaits and squarebills. Crappie are good on jigs. White bass are fair on slabs. Catfish are fair on trotlines and cut bait.
BRIDGEPORT: Water clear; 48-52 degrees; 15.03’ low. Black bass are slow on shaky heads with green pumpkin finesse worms around docks in 6-10'. Drop shots with Xcite worms are working as well. Crappie are slow on minnows. White bass are slow on slabs. Hybrid striper are fair on slabs. Channel catfish are slow on trotlines.
CADDO: Water stained; 49-53 degrees; 0.44' low. Black bass are fair on Texas rigged soft plastics. White and yellow bass are fair on slabs. Catfish are fair on trotlines.
CEDAR CREEK: Water clear; 47-52 degrees; 3.83' low. Black bass are fair on shallow crankbaits around docks. Black and blue Darkhorse flipping jigs are effective as well. White bass are slow on slabs. Hybrid striper are good on live shad. Crappie are fair on minnows. Catfish are good on prepared bait.
COOPER: Water clear; 49-53 degrees; 7.14’ low. Black bass are slow on Texas rigged soft plastics and lipless crankbaits. Crappie are fair on minnows and jigs. White bass are good on slabs. Hybrid striper are fair on live shad. Catfish are good on cut bait.
FAIRFIELD: Fishing has been slow since the fish kill in September of 2010. TPWD has discontinued stocking the lake after another kill in early September 2011. Redfish and black bass survived the kill in limited numbers.
FORK: Water clear; 47-51 degrees; 4.50' low. Black bass are fair on black/blue Darkhorse jigs along channel bends. Deep water bite good with Carolina rigs and football jigs. Yellow bass are slow on jigging spoons. Crappie are good on minnows around the bridges. Catfish are fair on prepared bait.

LEWISVILLE: Water clear; 48-52 degrees; 6.25' low. Black bass are fair on shakyheads around marinas and football jigs along main lake points. Suspending jerkbaits around larger rock is good as well. Crappie are fair on minnows. White bass are fair on slabs and jigs. Hybrid striper are fair on slabs. Catfish are good on prepared bait and cut shad.

SOUTH SABINE: Sheepshead and black drum are good at the jetty on live shrimp. Trout are fair around the Reef on live shrimp.
BOLIVAR: Trout are fair to good on the south shoreline on soft plastics and plugs. Black drum and redfish are good at Rollover Pass.
TRINITY BAY: Trout are fair to good in the marsh on plastics. Redfish are good at the spillway on crabs and mullet.
EAST GALVESTON BAY: Trout are fair to good on the south shoreline on Catch 5s, MirrOlures and Catch 2000s. Whiting and sand trout are good on the edge of the Intracoastal on fresh shrimp.
WEST GALVESTON BAY: Sheepshead, redfish and black drum are good at the jetty on shrimp and crabs. Trout are scattered on the shorelines, but best in the afternoon for waders.
TEXAS CITY: Redfish are fair in Moses Lake on mullet and shrimp. Sand trout are good around the dike in the channel on shrimp.
FREEPORT: Sand trout and sheepshead are good on live shrimp on the reefs. Black drum are good in Cold Pass and San Luis pass on cracked blue crabs.
EAST MATAGORDA BAY: Trout are fair to good for drifters in the afternoon on soft plastics over humps and scattered shell. Redfish are fair to good on the edge of the Intracoastal on crabs and mullet.
WEST MATAGORDA BAY: Redfish are fair to good at the edge of Oyster Lake on shrimp. Trout are fair in the guts. Black drum are fair to good at the jetty on crabs.
PORT O’CONNOR: Trout and redfish are fair over soft mud in waist-deep water in San Antonio Bay. Trout and redfish are fair for drifters working the back lakes with live shrimp.
