Palestine Police: Alleged child abuction report was false
STAFF REPORTS

Palestine police officials said an alleged child abduction reported this week never happened.

The case was reported Monday by a father and his 10-year-old daughter who alleged the girl was taken from a bus stop by a man with a hand gun, according to a news release from the department. The man allegedly was brought to an abandoned house several blocks away in a van.

After several interviews with neighbors and a second interview with the victim, the department determined the incident never happened, the release states. The house the victim was taken to showed no signs anyone had been there, the release states.

“There was information given at the beginning of the investigation that did not add up,” Sgt. James Muniz said in the release. “However these incidents must be fully investigated until such time that there is sufficient information or evidence to prove that the incident did or did not take place. In this case, we have determined that the incident did not take place and that there was no evidence found to support the allegations made during this incident.”

The Palestine ISD was kept up on information as the case developed, the release states.
