Chick-fil-A Leadercast is a one-day leadership event broadcast live to hundreds of locations around the world. Beginning this year, Tyler will be included.
Tickets are on sale, and the Green Acres Baptist Church CrossWalk Center, where the event will be held, can seat up to 1,000 people, Rosemary Sage Jones said.
Mrs. Jones, Tyler chamber’s chairwoman-elect, is serving as chairwoman for the event after she helped bring it to Tyler.
She saw Longview had hosted the Leadercast before and asked other Tyler chamber members: “Why are we not offering this in Tyler?” She said they decided to bring it here and because it is about leadership, pulled in Leadership Tyler to help host it.
“Such great speakers will all come together in one day,” Ms. Jones said of why she wanted Tyler to be a host site. It also will be a fundraiser for the Tyler Chamber and Leadership Tyler.
Mrs. Jones said the all-day telecast is televised in more than 100 different countries. Businesses and companies, churches, colleges and universities and communities worldwide will serve as host sites.
“People travel all over the U.S. to attend these types of leadership conferences,” Mrs. Jones said. “It’s a very affordable day of leadership training right here in our own community.”
Leadership Tyler wants to strengthen its partnership in the community, said Angela Jenkins, a Leadership Tyler representative on the event planning committee.
“Being able to partner with the chamber is exciting,” she said. “Bringing this caliber of speakers to a local audience via satellite is very exciting.”
The Chick-fil-A Leadercast will have speakers from the “sports world, the political field, bustling authors and leadership experts,” Ms. Jenkins said. “Hopefully because of the wide array of speakers, they (attendees) come away with that ah-ha moment or that nugget that inspires them and gives them a way to improve their own lives.”
Speakers will include Jack Welch, former chairman and chief executive officer of General Electric; Andy Stanley, best-selling leadership author and communicator; John C. Maxwell and Dr. Henry Cloud, both best-selling authors and leadership experts; and Rorke Denver, Navy SEAL and star of the 2012 movie “Act of Valor.”
Other speakers will be Sanya Richards-Ross, 2012 London Olympics gold medalist for track and field, and David Allen, best-selling author of “Getting Things Done” and productivity expert.
“We are still accepting sponsors at this time,” Mrs. Jones said, adding that sponsorships are available through Feb. 20. “It is a great opportunity for marketing and advertising local businesses before and at the event.”
Available sponsorships include presenting sponsors for $5,000, platinum sponsors for $2,500, gold sponsors for $1,000, silver sponsors for $500, bronze sponsors for $250 and bag sponsors for $100.
Tickets already are on sale at www.chick-fil-aleadercast.com.
Early bird prices will include a $5 discount if bought before April 1, Mrs. Jones said. Prices after April 1 are $75 for Tyler Chamber and Leadership Tyler members; $80 for nonmembers; and $70 a ticket for groups of 10 or more.
Ms. Jenkins said anyone is welcome to attend the Tyler event, which is a satellite location that will simulcast the speakers.
“I think it’s a great opportunity for residents in Tyler to have a value-based leadership program offered locally,” Mrs. Jones said.
