Berry to speak at Black History Celebration

Dr. Bertice Berry, a best-selling author, will be the speaker at this year’s Tyler Black History Celebration on Feb. 23, organizers announced.
Dr. Bertice Berry, a best-selling author, will be the speaker at this year’s Tyler Black History Celebration on Feb. 23, organizers announced.
The fundraiser will take place at 7 p.m. in Rose Garden Center.
Ms. Berry, who has doctorate in sociology, has hosted her own nationally syndicated talk show and a live talk show carried on USA cable network. She has appeared on numerous television shows and is the author of best-selling books including “I’m on My Way, But Your Foot is on My Head.”
She is often praised for her abilities to entertain, inspire and educate.
Tickets cost $20 for adults and $10 for children 12 and younger, the announcement said.
The dinner is being presented by the African-American Cultural Events Committee. A portion of the funds raised will be donated to benefit sickle cell research and awareness and to fund college scholarships.
Organizers are seeking sponsorships for the event.
