Belles, dancers hosting regional dance-off

About 800 dancers, twirlers and color guard performers from across Texas will be in Tyler this weekend for the second Rose Capital Regional Competition.

The Tyler Junior College Apache Belles and Marching Auxiliaries Dance will co-host the event Saturday on the TJC campus, according to a college news release.

They will compete in Wagstaff Gymnasium and Gentry Gym in the Ornelas Health and Physical Education Complex on the TJC main campus, according to the news release.

The contest encompasses dancers as well as twirling, winter guard and color guard performers, according to the news release.

The event is open to the public with the competition starting at 7:30 a.m. and the awards ceremony set for 10 p.m.

Admission is $10 for adults and $6 for children under age 6 as well as seniors ages 65 and older.

Children younger than 3 are admitted for free. Attendees will receive wristbands, which will allow them to come and go throughout the day.
