Crimestoppers tip leads to robbery suspect's capture
A Crimestoppers tip led Tyler police and U.S. Marshals to a man wanted for his role in an armed robbery in January. Tyler detectives, along with the U.S. Marshal agents, located and arrested Ashad Rael Coats at the Town Park Apartments in Tyler. Coats had been sought since the January 16 robbery of the Food Fast - Exxon at 4201 University Blvd. After the robbery, one of the suspects shot himself in the leg while trying to evade police. The police statement on this arrest did not clarify if Coats was the person who shot himself.***
Lindale senior wins Good Neighbor Award
Lindale High School senior Lane Walters this morning received the high school's R.J. Collins State Farm Insurance Good Neighbor Award during a surprise presentation. The award is presented once a month during the school year to a student who represents the core values of Lindale High School: accountability, commitment, discipline, honesty, integrity, ownership, respect and responsibility.
