UPDATE: Gilmer man faces murder, aggravated assault charges

A Gilmer man was charged with murder and aggravated assault after allegedly stabbing two people and killing another Wednesday evening in northern Upshur County.

A Gilmer man was charged with murder and aggravated assault after allegedly stabbing two people and killing another Wednesday evening in northern Upshur County.
Deputies were originally notified at 5:50 p.m. that a man identified as Eddie Douglas Baker poured gasoline onto a trailer and was threatening to set it on fire on Ginger Road in northern Upshur County, according to an arrest affidavit.
While en route to the home, officers were notified Baker also stabbed two people at the home, the affidavit states. Two victims ran up the road, as officers arrived, screaming, “Eddie is still in the house,’” the affidavit states.
The victims were stabbed several times following an argument, causing lacerations and puncture wounds on both victims and were taken to Good Shepherd Medical Center in Longview for treatment, the affidavit states.
Baker allegedly fled on foot but was apprehended by officers and charged with two counts of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon.
The office later received a call that Tana Fuller Warren, 45, who lived with Baker had not been seen since Tuesday, the affidavit states. Officers found her dead in her home.
Baker allegedly confessed to stabbing her to death and placing her body in the back of the home, the affidavit states. A murder charge was added to Baker’s assault charges.
Upshur County Justice of the Peace Lyle Potter issued an $850,000 bond for the murder charge. He also faces two more bonds on aggravated assault, each for $250,000.
The two cases remain under investigation by the Upshur County Sheriff’s Office.
