This does not make me an advocate of everyone carrying a weapon — much less a concealed handgun. There are very few people I will allow on a hunting lease with me. Most people are not competent to be allowed to handle a weapon.
I have not carried a weapon to a confrontation. That changes the rules. If someone has a weapon then the response is different.
I am a civil trial lawyer, but have represented several people for murder in my career. With one exception, none of my clients were habitual criminals nor would have killed someone but for the immediate access to a weapon at the time of confrontation. My advice is that we all man up to conflicts without the crutch of a hidden weapon and listen to the sheriff in the (film) “Unforgiven” about normal person’s use of a pistol. Certainly if the intent of the Second Amendment was not limited to the militias, it was not contemplated to include missiles, bombs, automatic weapons or pistols hidden under a citizen’s shirt.
