DOW CROSSES 14,000 MARK
The Dow stock market index crossed the 14,000 line this morning for the first time in more than five years, bringing reminders of the last time it hit that mark — almost a different era, before the financial crisis rocked the world economy. Crossing 14,000 is a rare event: The Dow has done so only 15 times in its history.


FORMER NYC MAYOR DIES
Former New York mayor Ed Koch died early today from congestive heart failure at the age of 88. Here's more from the Associated Press.


STAND UP STAND STRONG WEEK
Bell Elementary School in Tyler is holding its third annual Stand Up Stand Strong Week beginning Monday. The week focuses on anti-bullying messages and themes. The theme for this year is "Be A H.E.R.O.- Help, Encourage, and Respect Others." Students have learned about bullying and ways to be an upstander in their classroom, neighborhood, and home.
