Tyler ISD passing rates fell below the state’s rates for third- through eighth-graders on the new state assessment, according to data released today by the school district.
In writing, 70 percent of TISD’s tested seventh-graders passed and 63 percent of fourth-graders passed.
Sixty-three percent of fifth- and eighth-graders passed the science test. And only 51 percent of eighth-graders passed the social studies test. Those are the only grade levels that take those tests.
This is the first time school districts could see how many of their students passed the tests.
“While we know we have more work to do, we are pleased to be in the range of the state scores,” TISD Superintendent Gary Mooring said, according to a TISD news release.
