Legislating Poverty, January 25
You cannot legislate the poor into prosperity by legislating the wealthy out of prosperity. That benefit which one person receives from the government without working, another person must work without receiving any benefit.
The government can only give to anybody that which the government must first take from somebody else. You cannot multiply wealth by dividing it!
When half of the people of a nation get the idea that they do not have to work because the other half is going to provide for them, and when the other half realizes that it does very little good to work because the government is going to force them through taxation to provide for those who can’t or will not provide for themselves, that is the beginning of the end of any nation.
