2 Tyler doughnut shops hit by thieves Monday

Crime struck two Tyler doughnut shops on Monday, Tyler police said.
Officers responded to Tyler Donut, 508 W. Front St., about 7 a.m. to an aggravated robbery.
“Upon arrival, officers contacted an employee who advised that a black male entered the store and produced a handgun demanding the money,” a news release stated.
The employee complied, and the robber fled, police said.
The robber was described as about 5-foot-10, 200 pounds and wearing dark clothing.
About 30 minutes later, officers responded to Country Donuts, 215 N. Beckham Ave. to a theft call.

Customers chased the man, causing him to drop the cash register, but he got into a vehicle and escaped.
The thief was described as being between 5-foot-7 and 5-foot-10, weighing 195 pounds wearing a gray hoodie, police said.
The thief left in a tan/cream vehicle.
The news release stated it was unknown whether the cases were linked.
