MIDDAY UPDATE: Lon Morris auction ends; fat drivers at risk
LON MORRIS AUCTION COMPLETE
The Lon Morris College bankruptcy auction is complete, and it looks like Jacksonville ISD and a building supply company will own the majority of the former Lon Morris assets. The sale netted two point two million dollars, according to a press release.
FAT DRIVERS MORE LIKELY TO DIE IN CRASHES
Obesity carries yet another surprising risk, according to a new study: obese drivers are more likely than normal weight drivers to die in a car crash. The reasons for the association are unclear, but they probably involve both vehicle design and the poorer health of obese people. The authors cite one study using obese and normal cadavers, in which obese people had significantly more forward movement away from the vehicle seat before the seat belt engaged because the additional soft tissue prevented the belt from fitting tightly.
LOHAN REJECTS 'DANCING WITH THE STARS'
Well, well. Surprise, surprise. Lindsay Lohan has apparently been approached by "Dancing with the Stars," according to TMZ — which I am positive posts something like this just before every season, but she's turned it down. Per the website, the show offered five hundred fifty thousand dollars — but it's unclear whether that's a real offer, or predicated on getting into the final rounds. (There are step raises that kick in after reaching certain levels of competition. And yes, dancing with the stars can be very lucrative for the winner. You don't think they undergo all that just to get the mirror ball.)
SAINTS COACH REINSTATED
Trending on Twitter at this hour is Sean Payton, the suspended New Orleans Saints head coach who was reinstated by the NFL this morning.
