UPDATED: 15-month-old girl killed by Chapel Hill School bus



UPDATED WITH DETAILS, TUESDAY, JAN. 22, 5:10 P.M.
An fifteen-month-old girl was run over by a Chapel Hill School bus in the 6800 block of Pearl Street on Tuesday afternoon.

The girl, Arra Preciado sneaked through a gate as Arra's mother was opening the gate for another child who had gotten off the school bus, according Texas Department Department of Public Safety spokeswoman Jean Dark.

Preciado was knocked down by the front tires of the bus and run over by the rear tires.

The girl was pronounced dead by Judge Mitch Shamburger, Justice of the Peace, Precinct 4.

A toddler has been run over and killed by a school bus according to authorities.

Smith County Sheriff Larry Smith told the Tyler Morning Telegraph by telephone that his deputies were on the scene with Department of Public Safety troopers on Pearl Street.

Smith said the Chapel Hill School bus driver apparently hit and ran over the small child shortly before 4 p.m. and the child was dead at the scene.

Smith said the investigation is ongoing and his department is assisting troopers.

Pearl Street is in the Morningside area just outside North Northeast Loop 323.
