Second Girl Power event set Saturday for Smith County girls
The second of three Girl Power events designed to build leadership in Smith County girls will be this weekend.
The Junior League of Tyler will have its Girl Power “I Am Strong” event from 8:30 to 11:30 a.m. Saturday. The event is for sixth-grade girls who live in Smith County.
It is designed to develop leadership skills by promoting confidence and self-esteem, health and nutrition and volunteerism, according to a news release about the event.
This week’s event will focus on health and wellness. Local physicians and nutrition and fitness experts are scheduled to speak to the girls.
Activities will include dance aerobics; Q-and-A with local experts on health and wellness topics; health snacks cooking demonstrations; and The Meg Show with Meghan Charles Goad.
