East Texas Communities Foundation offers scholarships

The East Texas Communities Foundation is accepting applications for numerous scholarships. The submission deadline is March 1. All applications and eligibility criteria are available at www.etcf.org/available_scholarships.htm. Call Mary Lynn Smith at 903-533-0208 for more information.

This year’s scholarships are:

David G. and Jacqueline M. Braithwaite Scholarship for Vocational/Technical Study in Medically Related Fields is for East Texas students pursuing a vocational/technical AA degree or certificate in a medically related field; $1,500, renewable for the length of the program.

David G. and Jacqueline M. Braithwaite Scholarship in Chemistry is for East Texas graduating seniors majoring in chemistry; $3,000, renewable for three years.

David G. and Jacqueline M. Braithwaite Scholarship in Medicine, Biotechnology and Veterinary Medicine is for East Texas graduating seniors who plan to major in biology, mathematics, engineering or a related field which will allow them to pursue a career in medicine, veterinary medicine or biotechnology; $3,000, renewable for three years.

J.M. Braithwaite TJC Nursing Scholarship is for an East Texas student pursuing a nursing degree at Tyler Junior College; $1,000, renewable.

Dr. Elbert H. Caldwell Scholarship is for an East Texas resident wishing to pursue a career in a medically related field, with preference for nursing; $2,500, renewable scholarship.

East Texas Geological Society Scholarship is for a student pursuing an undergraduate or master’s degree in geology in Texas; must be a college sophomore or higher at time of application; $1,500, renewable for a total of two years.

Richard B. and Mary Lou Hamm Scholarship is for Bullard High School graduates attending The University of Texas at Tyler; $1,000, renewable for four years.

Gladys and Thomas “TB” Stewart Scholarship is for graduating seniors from Smith County and surrounding high schools; $2,000, renewable for a total of four years.

Winifred George Scholarship is for graduating seniors from a Smith County high school attending Abilene Christian University; $1,000, renewable for four years.

Adam Carroll Scholarship is for Grand Saline High School graduating seniors who have participated in high school athletics or cheerleading (Van Zandt, Wood or Smith counties only); $500.

Betty and Roy Erickson Scholarship is for graduating seniors from an East Texas High School; $1,000.

Alex Fleming Infinity Scholarship is for Whitehouse High School graduating seniors who have participated in the band for four years; $1,500.

Citizens 1st Bank/Perkins Family Foundation Scholarship is for children of state employees who are residents of Cherokee, Nacogdoches or Smith counties; $1,000.

Tim King Memorial Scholarship is for a graduating senior from Robert E. Lee High School in Tyler who plans to attend The University of Texas at Austin and major in business; $2,500.

Juliette Low’s Amazing Girls Scholarship is for a female resident of Smith County who is a graduating senior from a Smith County high school or home-schooled who was involved in Girl Scouting; $1,000.

Chris Lyon Memorial Scholarship is for art majors at The University of Texas at Tyler; $1,000.

Lauren Lewis Scholarship is for graduating seniors from Robert E. Lee High School and All Saints Episcopal School of Tyler who plan to attend Texas A&M University; $1,000.

Natural Gas Society of East Texas Scholarship is for Texas college students at the undergraduate or graduate level who have declared a major in a field of study that directly relates to the energy industry; $1,000.

Gary Neel Memorial Scholarship is for Robert E. Lee High School graduating senior who will be attending The University of Texas at Austin; $2,500.

Partners in Arts Scholarship is for Smith County graduating seniors planning on pursuing a degree in one of the performing or visual arts; $1,000.

Leslie Reid Memorial Scholarship is for any female Henderson County senior who has participated in horse shows in Henderson County; $1,000.

Retail Merchants Association Scholarship is for Smith County graduating seniors that plan to major in business; $1,000.

Kristen and Joey Seeber Scholarship is for graduating seniors from Robert E. Lee High School and John Tyler High School; $500.

Sharyland Utilities Scholarship is for graduating seniors from select high schools in Hunt, Collin and Fannin counties who plan to major in engineering; $400.

Smith County Baptist Ministers Scholarship is for dependent children of ordained ministers serving congregations that are members of the Baptist General Convention of Texas; amount to be determined.

Gerald and Charlie Stoker Memorial Scholarship is for graduating seniors from Winnsboro High School; $500.

Texas Rose Festival Scholarship is for graduating seniors from a Smith County high school and current college students with a preference for those who have participated in the Boys & Girls Club of East Texas; $500.

Tyler Citizens Police Academy Alumni Association Scholarship is for children of a current city of Tyler Police Department employee; $5,000.

Sherilyn A. Willis, M.D. Medical Scholarship is for a student attending medical school in Texas; $500.

A.D. and Mary Winston Scholarship is for Smith County graduating seniors planning to attend Texas A&M University; $1,000.

Tiffany Lynn Zanolini Memorial Scholarship is for female graduating seniors at a Smith County school who have participated in varsity soccer; $1,000.
